Christmas is our most favorite time of the year! It is the best season to spend time with family and friends and what better way than to gather around the table and share a memorable meal with your loved ones. That being said, the Filistix Fam would like to invite you to join us on Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7 for our last Christmas Kamayan Feast. It’s been a minute since we hosted a Kamayan Feast so we’re super excited for this one.

If you’re not familiar with what a Kamayan Feast is, it is basically a meal that is shared and eaten with the hands. “Kamay” is the root word and it means hand. “Kamayan” refers to anything done by using the hands and, in this case, eating with our hands. There is another name for this type of meal and it is called a ‘boodle fight’ in relation to how Filipino military personnel would eat at a communal table with their hands.

Typically a spread would include a combination of grilled or fried meats, seafood, vegetables and fresh fruits all laid out beautifully on banana leaves. For our Christmas Kamayan Feast, you can expect a delicious medley of:

Golden Fried Tilapia (fish)

Mimi’s Tamarind Spiced Wings (chicken)

Crispy Fried Lechon Kawali (pork belly)

Garlic Shrimps (seafood)

Steamed Corn

Charred Asian Greens

Grilled Eggplant Salad

Creamy Corn Soup

Steamed Jasmine Rice

Fresh Fruits

Biko and Maja Blanca (assorted rice flour desserts)
